About Me
My full name is Alex Richard Ford and I am a citizen of the United States of America. I'm a 22 year old male with a diverse heritage rooted in German (paternal) and Thai (maternal) origins.
For the most part, I'm a kind and easy-going individual, but I do hold a set of very strong opinions! I am a deep-thinker and tend to
analyze, assess and qualify nearly everything. From a very young age, I was involved heavily with computers and I knew that I would
most likely end up picking a profession that centers around them. As it currently stands, I am an undergraduate student
at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where I am studying Software Engineering.
RIT is a very good school for Engineering, Math and Science. It is also host
to some very good Imaging, Photography and Graphic Art programs. I picked RIT because it has an excellent program in Software Engineering
and a good reputation in general. RIT is one of the few schools in the nation that require a Cooperative Education program. The specific
co-op requirements are defined by each program, but the Software Engineering program requires one full year of co-op experience. It
is such a valuable part of the RIT education because it provides us with real-world job experience which makes us extremely
competitive employees immediately after we graduate.
I expect to be done with RIT in May of 2010. See the section on my Future Plans to find our what's in store after that! In the meantime, I enjoy living in the moment and keeping to my goals and philosophies.
Growing up, I lived an extremely variable life. Almost nothing was stable or consistent and it was largely due to the fact that my father was in the United States Air Force. His career had us moving quite often, on average every 2 years. While this was particularly hard on me, I appreciate the strength and experience it has given me. Not very many people can say they've seen and done things the way I can, and there are people in the world who will go their entire lives without coming close. Not to put anyone down, but I treasure what I have, and if I was given a choice to have it be different, I wouldn't take it. If you're interested in knowing the places I've lived and visited, feel free to check out the Places I've Been section.
That's all for now, I may include more to this page in the future. In the meantime, check out the sub-sections of this About Me portion to my website.
